The sounds of Kingston and Lagos meet on “Playtime,” an international collaboration that brings Jamaican dancehall star Shenseea together with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake. Released on November 6, 2026, through Since ’93/Columbia Records, the track blends influences from two influential music scenes into a lively cross-cultural release.
Serving as the second track on Shenseea’s newly announced eight-track debut EP, Catalyst, the song forms part of a project featuring notable appearances from legendary dancehall artist Vybz Kartel and Loe Shimmy.
On “Playtime,” Shenseea brings her smooth dancehall delivery, while Asake contributes his energetic Afrobeats style. The production incorporates Amapiano rhythms and Fuji-inspired elements, creating a sound that draws from both artists’ musical backgrounds without losing their individual identities.
The collaboration also highlights the connection between Jamaica’s dancehall culture and Nigeria’s evolving Afrobeats movement. By combining Shenseea’s Caribbean influence with Asake’s distinctive sound, the record adds an international dimension to Catalyst and offers listeners an exciting meeting of musical styles.
