Nigeria entrepreneur and media personality, Linda Ikeji has disclosed the date fixed for for the release of her upcoming movie ‘ The night of June 7’ which is story inspired by true events.

The producer made this announcement via her instagram page on Monday, 22 April 2024, where she said the movie is one of the many things that has really made her proud, she wrote ” My second feature film , the night of June 7th (inspired by true events) is coming to you  in 2024, if you loved ( or didn’t love dark October… lol), you will love this, this movie was written and produced by me, and i can’t wait to see it, it will take you through all kinds of emotions, the night of June 7th is coming y’all”

Although unclear what the true event of the movie is, but it could be recalled that a popular June 7th in Nigeria known as Apo 6th has happened on that day, on June 7th 2005, five young men from the east named, Ifeanyi Ozor, Chinedu Meniro, Anthony Nwokike, Paulinus  Ogbonna and Ekenne Isaac Mgbe along with Ozor’s wife, Augustina  Arebu lost their lives.

According to history, the six of them were victims of police brutality and injustice in Nigeria, History notes that the six of them were brutally killed at a police checkpoint  in Gimbiya strret, area 11, Garki Abuja by some officers of the police force, under the command of the then deputy commissioner of police, Danjuma Ibrahim. The confrontation was said to be a result of Augustina’s rejection  of the senior officers romantic advances at a night club in the city of Abuja.

Prior to the upcoming movie, the filmmaker had already made a movie based off true life events, the movie is a narration of the the Aluu 4 lynching. It is the story of four university students  in Nigeria who visited a particular area in the east, in search of a debtor who owed one of them but unfortunately , the supposed debtor raised a false alarm alleging that the four boys were there to steal from him, the four boys were then surrounded by mobs who stoned and lynched them, this attack however raised a nation wide crisis which widely spread all over the east,

The stars of the movie ‘ the night of  7th June’ are, Gideon Okeke, Charles Lenny, April Chidinma,Ali Nuhu, Dante Okere and Femi branch among other actors who are rumored to be among the cast of the movie.
