The next lection might not go in favor of the All progressive Congress’s favor if they don’t find a way to control the recent hike in the price of  electricity tariff says the national organizing  secretary, Nze Chidi Duru.

Nze Chidi Duru urged the president Tinubu administration to revoke the hike in electricity tariff saying it is an anti-party move, he stated that the hike in electricity tariff for consumers is a policy capable of destroying the APC’s electoral chances. ” this has an unintended consequences for the government and the party, people are groaning in difficulties and i call on the regulators  to go the  Nigerian communication commission NCC and learn what they have been able to do, this is one policy that must not stand ” he said on Tuesday.

He started that the masses are not responsible and should not be demanded to buy transformers, electric poles and fund other installations  that are supposed to be provided by the government through electricity distribution companies  or generating companies.

When asked if he would prefer the government  to review the concession agreement, the organizing secretary said ” of course, it has come to that, if they look at the contract government signed with the operators and if there is sufficient reason the government should take over the agencies, Discos and Gencos. It should be because none of them have delivered on the duties imposed on them in the contract.

“Otherwise why is it that Nigerians are still buying their transformers, cables and providing electricity for themselves, still generating power from other sources and still consuming diesel at inappropriate levels”

“Those selling generators are selling more than before and the volume of kilowatts of power available in the country continued to hover around 2000 to 6000 and never go beyond that, was that not a reflection that there is not enough investment in that industry and a reflection that those operators don’t understand the business”
