Winner of the 7th edition of Big Brother Naija, BBN reality TV show, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor popularly known as Phyna, has called out the organizers of the show for not paying her complete prize after the show.
Phyna made the calls via a post on her official X account alleging that the remaining balance of her prizes both financially and materially had not been completed yet the organizers of the show are planning the 9th season of the show.
According to her, she has been drawing the organisers, Multichoice’s attention to the uncleared debt but with caution for reasons of not wanting to be seen as an ingrate who had bitten the hand that fed her.
She wrote in her post:
“New show, winner of season 7 nor see all her prizes and money. Well lemme mind my business before them go talk say I don go bite their hand…. It is well”
Recall that the reality tv star was in 2022, handed a cheque of N50 million naira by multichoice for winning the show.
However, reacting to her claims, both winners of the all stars season and Zikyala wahala edition, Ilebaye and Kosi claimed that they had been paid their prices in full.
According to Ilebaye who spoke during a live session with her fans on social media and had reportedly won a whopping sum of N120 million after emerging the winner of the all stars edition of the show which happened after the season 7, she received her payment in full and has not touched the prize as it is still in her account.
She said, “I haven’t touched even a tiny part of it. My money haven’t finished. I haven’t touched my prize money and this is a fact.”
Also, winner of the zikyala wahala edition of the reality tv show, Kosi also claimed she had been paid her complete price for being a winner of the season. The south African winner shared her proof of payment in a screenshot of what looked like her bank statement.
Social media was in a frenzy after Phyna’s claim, while others felt she was saying the truth, a lot of people felt she was just using it as a means to trend again. Some of the comments on her post read:
Pearlliehart: “was this public call-out trly necessary? there are proper channels for this, in my opinion BBnaija is such a huge establishment. No way this can’t/won’t be sorted out. There’s always a legal way of dealing with this if it comes to that.”
Jummytd: “But if dem no see their money.. why mercy n white money go back n mercy wanted to win for the second time so bad?”
Hardey-nike-111: “it is well with Nigeria everyone is a user ooo just make sure whoever is using you is useful to you.”
Msverachidera: “But why? This is not the first time we are seeing this same allegation”
The organisers of the show, Multichoice was however, yet to respond to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
