Lil Nas X opens “World’s Greatest!” with an emotional connection to his late mother, Tamikia Hill, whose voicemail reminds him to “walk by faith, not by sight.” The moment sets a reflective tone for his return to music.
Released on October 1, 2026, the uplifting rock-driven single finds the Grammy-winning artist looking back on his journey from his Atlanta roots to international success. His story takes centre stage as he acknowledges the experiences and determination that helped shape his rise.
The personal message from his mother adds extra weight to the song, linking its themes to his family and upbringing. Rather than serving simply as an introduction, the voicemail gives listeners a glimpse into the personal side of Lil Nas X’s journey.
Musically, “World’s Greatest!” leans into rock-inspired instrumentation and an uplifting arrangement, giving the artist a fresh backdrop for this new chapter in his catalogue.
