Tekno debunks interview that says Kizz Daniel gave him 1 billion naira for Buga

Famous Nigerian singer-songwriter and record producer Augustine Miles Kelechi Okechukwu popularly known as Tekno, has debunked a viral interview that says Kizz Daniel gave him 1 billion naira for their joint hit track “Buga,” which was released in 2022.

According to Tekno who made the disclosure via a tweet on Sunday, he did not receive up to the said amount that has been circulating on the media space.

The singer wrote:

“😂😂😂 Him money no reach 😂 anybody wey put out that fake interview, thunder fire your mama… #Talkingshit”

Recall that BudgetTV Africa, an online media platform, via it’s Twitter handle had earlier alleged that the singer said he has received up to a billion naira from Kizz Daniel since the release of their hit song “Buga” which topped charts in several African countries amongst other grand achievements that it recorded.

According to the tweet which quoted words that have been attributed to Tekno in what seemed like an interview, the record producer said even though he wanted to remain silent on the matter, he thought that he should speak on it because some levels of gratitude deserve to be spoken of.

According to the post, he jumped on the track without any legal agreements with Kizz Daniel and wasn’t expecting anything from him. He further disclosed that the singer sends him 50% of every revenue he generates from the song.

The post read,

“I got on Kizz Daniel’s Buga with no sort of legal agreement. I wasn’t expecting anything from him. Wanted to be silent about this but I think some levels of gratitude deserve to be spoken of. Do y’all know Kizz Daniel sends me 50% of every revenue he generates from that song? After his buga tour he sent me close to a Billion Naira and I was already shocked enough by that move. He didn’t end just there. Every month I receive millions as my own share of the revenue generated by Buga on streaming platforms… Kizz is a great guy I can’t lie.”

However, Tekno in a recent post debunked the claims stating that he has not received up to a billion Naira as has been alleged.

Kizz Daniel and Tekno released the hit song “Buga (Lo Lo Lo),” off Kizz Daniel’s 2023 music album “Maverick” which had fifteen other tracks with no other guest appearance.

The song which topped the chart on Apple Music’s Top 100 songs in Nigeria and other African countries had also made some significant entries in Nigeria and the African music scene.

The song reportedly became the most streamed song on Audiomack and Boomplay which are two of Nigeria’s biggest music streaming platforms having attained over 5 million monthly users and 54.8 million streams on Audiomack and a whooping 142 million streams on Boomplay.

“Buga” by Kizz Daniel and Tekno had also topped the list of the most searched song on Google in the first half of 2022 and earned Kizz Daniel a total of 5 nominations at the 2022 Afrima Awards including Male Artist of the Year West Africa, Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year.

However, Tekno is barely ever recognised for his role in the chart topping hit single which remained fan’s favourites several months after it’s release on May 3rd 2022.
